Beirut - Lebanon - President Joseph Aoun held a meeting on Tuesday at Baabda Palace with Egyptian Intelligence Chief Hassan Rashad and his accompanying delegation. The talks were attended by General Security Director General Hassan Shukeir and Army Intelligence Chief Brigadier General Tony Kahwaji.

During the meeting, Rashad conveyed greetings from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and reaffirmed Egypt’s steadfast support for Lebanon’s efforts to preserve national stability. The discussions centered on regional developments, with a particular focus on southern Lebanon and the ongoing crisis in Gaza. Rashad reiterated Egypt’s readiness to contribute to efforts aimed at reinforcing security in southern Lebanon and addressing the current unrest.

President Aoun expressed his appreciation for Egypt’s enduring support across various sectors and conveyed his greetings to President al-Sisi. He welcomed any Egyptian initiatives aimed at halting Israeli aggression on Lebanese territory and restoring calm.

Following the Baabda meeting, Rashad proceeded to Ain al-Tineh for talks with Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri, as part of a broader diplomatic mission in Beirut that has recently included several regional and international envoys.
