Los Angeles – Beirut Times
In his first official visit after assuming his duties, His Excellency Charbél Nassar, Consul General of the Republic of Lebanon in Los Angeles, paid a courtesy visit to the office of the Chief of Protocol for Los Angeles County, Mrs. Lord Saab. The visit underscores the consulate’s commitment to deepen engagement with local institutions, support the Lebanese community, and expand avenues for institutional cooperation between Lebanon and Los Angeles County.

Meeting Overview
Mrs. Lord Saab received the Consul General in her office and provided a comprehensive briefing on the structure and responsibilities of Los Angeles County. The presentation covered the role of the Board of Supervisors, distinctions between county administration and the functions of the Mayor and City Council of Los Angeles, and the governance of incorporated and unincorporated areas. The discussion opened channels for collaboration on community services, coordination of official visits, and the exchange of administrative best practices.

Tour of the County Building
During the visit, the Consul General toured the historic chambers of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, where Mrs. Saab explained the deliberative and decision‑making processes that affect millions of residents. The tour included a walk through corridors adorned with portraits of past and present supervisors, reflecting the county’s long institutional history and civic legacy.

Symbolic Gift and Historical Connections
As a gesture of cultural affinity, Consul General Charbél Nassar presented Mrs. Saab with a small Phoenician statuette from Byblos, symbolizing shared Lebanese heritage. Mrs. Saab, who has familial ties to Lebanon, highlighted a treasured photograph of the late Lebanese President Bachir Gemayel taken during his visit to Los Angeles, accompanied by a personal message he left for then‑Mayor Tom Bradley and a reference to her late husband Abdo Saab. The exchange was a poignant reminder of the enduring historical and personal bonds between Lebanon and the Lebanese community in California.

The meeting concluded with a commitment to strengthen cooperation between the Consulate General of Lebanon in Los Angeles and Los Angeles County institutions, with the shared objective of better serving the Lebanese community and broadening institutional partnerships. Consul General Nassar expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and reaffirmed his dedication to sustained engagement to reinforce ties of friendship and collaboration.
