Beirut - NNA - The Lebanese Cabinet approved Thursday credits amounting to 450 billion L.L. to be added to the 2020 state budget to pay the sums due to Lebanon's private hospitals.

This item was not on the agenda of today's session at Baabda palace but was put on-the-table by President Michel Aoun.

At the beginning of the session, Aoun said that politicians who had criticized the work of the government were the ones who destroyed the state and its institutions, and who stood behind the massive public debt in the country.

On the controversial Bisri water dam, the President called those opposing the plan to submit their objections to the government in a letter instead of resorting to smearing media campaigns.

"From now on, absurd criticism is unacceptable and insults are inadmissible, especially if those criticizing have a history full of violations and attacks on the state and its institutions," he said.

Moreover, he highlighted the importance to finalize the financial reform plan at the nearest time possible, reminding of the necessity to embark on the recovery of stolen funds.

For his part, Prime Minister Hassan Diab expected the discussions of the said plan to end next week.

On a different note, he indicated that the emigrants' repatriation amid coronavirus lockdown measures would resume on April 26.
