A small plane crashed south of Dubai airport killing three Britons and one South African, Reuters reported the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority saying in a statement yesterday.
The four-seat plane, a DA42 registered in the United Kingdom, was on a mission to calibrate terrestrial navigation systems at the airport, the statement said.
The plane crashed at approximately 7:30pm local time (3.30pm GMT) three miles south of Dubai International Airport.
An investigation is underway. Air traffic at the airport has returned to normal, it said.
An UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office spokesperson said: “We are working closely with the Emirati authorities following reports of a small aircraft crash in Dubai.”
