Beirut, Lebanon - Israeli airstrikes targeted the Lebanese capital, Beirut, intensifying tensions in the region. This evening, a series of strikes hit key areas within the city, causing significant damage.
One airstrike targeted a building located between the densely populated districts of Ras al-Nabaa and al-Nouairy. Another strike was reported in the al-Basta neighborhood. A third strike hit an apartment in the Burj Abi Haydar neighborhood.
An initial toll issued by Lebanon's Health Ministry indicated that 11 people were killed, and 48 others were injured in the strikes.
Israel's Channel 12 reported that one of the airstrike had targeted Wafiq Safa, the head of Hezbollah's Liaison and Coordination Unit.
A Lebanese security source confirms to Reuters that the Israeli strike on central Beirut targeted at least one senior figure in Hezbollah.
