Beirut - A White House official announced Wednesday evening, that the American envoy for energy affairs, Amos Hochstein, will visit Lebanon and Israel next week, according to what the American “Axios” website reported.

Axios also quoted Israeli officials saying that “the process of drafting an agreement on the maritime dispute with Lebanon has not started yet.”

Sources told LBCI, that the American mediator met with Total’s Chairman of the Board of Directors in the French capital, Paris, and they discussed the company’s obligations in Lebanon, especially in the disputed area between Lebanon and Israel.”

Sources familiar with Hochstein’s movements pointed out, according to the channel, that “the meeting that brought the latter together with the company is not the first meeting, as there is a technical team that provided technical assistance to Hochstein previously, to be known later that it is affiliated with Total.

The sources added, “Hockstein spoke with the American company Chevron, which owns the marine survey and the possibility of a joint reservoir between 3 blocks, and the Americans prefer that the task of exploration be undertaken by a Greek company because of its ability to link production to the floating platform in Karish.”
