Washington, DC – The Arab American Institute (AAI) commissioned a special nationwide online poll of voters between the Republican and Democratic National Conventions. AAI President Dr. James Zogby will provide an analysis of the poll's key findings on Thursday, September 5, at 10:30 AM ET.

For decades, AAI has commissioned polls to examine American opinions on issues surrounding Palestinian rights. AAI's latest poll found that 15% of Americans say this issue is "very important" to determining their vote this year. Overall, 48% say the war is at least "somewhat important" to their vote.

Among many other findings, AAI found that for key components of the so-called Obama coalition - younger voters and Black and Hispanic voters are more deeply impacted by this war and more sympathetic to Palestinian rights, 27% of America's youngest voters sympathize with Palestinians and are more critical of Israeli policies than other demographic sub-groups.

Overall, most voters disapprove of the way Israel is conducting the war, want an immediate ceasefire, and oppose unrestricted financial and military support for Israel if it continues to operate in a manner that puts civilian lives at risk.

"Voters understand the Palestinian issue like never before, and they want policy change to stop the genocide we are witnessing. These results lay a path forward for policymakers who want to represent their constituents and do the right thing - use U.S. influence to stop the genocide in Gaza," said AAI President James Zogby.
