Waves of demands for apologies from the West

Wherever a Western president has visited a country in recent years, his visit has been preceded by requests for an apology from the host state for the colonial period of his country. Apology requests were even extended to Pope Francis before his visit recently to Canada for the transgressions of the Catholic Church missions against indigenous citizens, but it was from liberal and left-wing Canadians.

Past Mistakes

Apology requests are not legally or morally justified because they are for something the visiting president did not do personally. Some presidents have ignored or rejected them, and some of them have made an admission of mistakes their country made during its colonial period, as French President Macron did with Algeria’s repeated requests for an apology.

As part of the new wave of unjustified requests for apologies, the “Kenya Commission for Human Rights” called on King Charles III to make “unequivocal public apologies” for human rights violations committed by Britain during its colonial period in Kenya between 1895 and 1963.

The apology was requested due to the suppression of the revolt of the Mau Mau tribes against the British colonial power, which left more than ten thousand people dead between 1952 and 1960, most of them from the Kikuyu ethnicity.

The request came after years of legal procedures under which London agreed in 2013 to pay compensation to more than five thousand Kenyans. A civilized matter that no third-world country today has done about their invasions or colonization practiced, when they had the power, and their warriors were invaders throughout history!

However, the Kenyan committee demanded compensation “for all the atrocities committed against various groups in the country.” Buckingham Palace confirmed before the king visits with a high diplomacy statement that the visit of the king constitutes an opportunity to discuss “the most painful aspects” of the history between the two countries, and King Charles “will take the time to deepen his understanding of the mistakes to which the Kenyan people were exposed during this period.”

Reasons for targeting

Why is the West alone targeted by the apology? The matter is suspicious, especially if we ask at the African level: Have any of the African tribes that exterminated each other, without or with external intervention, apologized or offered any compensation?

Did former Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir apologize for the massacres for which he was responsible, and which led to the cutting off of southern Sudan from its north? Did any human rights association demand any compensation or apologies from this president?

They called on the West to apologize for the period of selling slaves as well, even though slavery was known to all nations, but the West, especially the United States, was still flogged because of it, and after Hussein Obama was elected as a black president for the first time in America’s history, he instead of paving the way for the election of a non-white man to become a common thing in America, as all minorities expected, especially the people of Latin America, Obama raised the slogan “Black Lives Matter,” which is a slogan insults African Americans. Obama simply ignored fierce American civil wars between the white population that broke out to free slaves and protect them by Abraham Lincoln more than a century and a half ago.

On the other hand, did the malicious African traitors who were complicit in facilitating the slave trade or human trafficking apologize or pay reparations?

The silent West

Only demands were asked from the West to apologize for its period of colonialism, but did Cyprus, Sicily, Malta, Spain, or France demand any Islamic country to apologize for the period of wars and Islamic settler colonialism and request compensation?

The clearest example of stealing parts of countries, or even part of a continent without any regret or apology is Turkey, which did not exist back in time, and was built on annexing other nations' lands and establishing its state. Then it annexed the banner of Alexandretta from Syria when it became an empire, later part of Cyprus. Before that Turkey colonized with settler colonialism a part of Europe, which is Constantinople and its neighborhood, and changed the religion and language of the population, not to mention the conversion of the second largest church (Hagia Sophia) in the world into a mosque.

However, no Turkish president was asked for an apology, compensation, or restoration of rights to the original owners of these territories. Human rights associations haven’t considered Turkey an occupying state like they did with Israel.

Turkey has reached the point of impudence in requesting to join the European Union because of the stolen Constantinople, which has become Istanbul, and its neighboring European lands. The irony is that Europe still studying the membership application, and Caliph Erdogan is scolding, censuring, and sometimes threatening Europe for its delay!

The other side

The other side of the coin of requests for apology is incitement to hatred and urging the persecution of Europe by radical preachers, with the same pretext, which is that some European countries colonized Islamic countries and plundered their wealth, and Muslims have the right to do the same thing with the West, but with a population bomb, because the West today is stronger militarily, that’s made Muslims who live in the West suffer from indescribable psychological state of not accepting or integrating with others and considering them as polytheists.

The incitement is suspicious, especially since the Qur’an explicitly says, "That no bearer of a burden shall bear the burden of another,” “All of them will come to Him alone on the Day of Resurrection,” and “Every soul is a hostage for what it has earned,” and "We shall inherit from him (at his death) all that he talks of (i.e. wealth and children which We have bestowed upon him in this world), and he shall come to Us alone.” These and other phrases mean that holding people accountable for what their ancestors did is unacceptable, so what are the Muslim preachers’ support for what they say?

Reasons for the alliance

What is the reason for the alliance of leftists, liberals, extremist Islamists, and human rights organizations who stand behind all requests for apology and demonization of the West despite the clear contradiction between their political and religious beliefs?

There is no answer to this question but another question that may seem illogical from the first reading: Did the Russians, who did not forgive or forget the fall of the Soviet Union, use Islamic radicalism, liberals, and the left to destroy Western values and societies?

The question seems convincing if we consider the center-left and what it is doing in the West in terms of its attempts to demolish the values of capitalism, and cancel the culture, especially in Canada and the United States.
